B.U.I.L.D. A Framework Framework

Hi! Happy Sunday!

This is the third post in a series outlining how to move politics forward in the 21st Century. This is the third post in a series where the obsolete ideologies of democracy, republic, religion, capitalism and federalism to name a few are upended in order to scale to the needs of a planet with seven billion people.

Recap

  1. B.U.I.L.D. Resetting Your World View: this was the first build-up innovation & love daily post.
The Irreni World Scale solution to resetting your world view is eliminate the supernatural from morality and to also embrace relative morality for all the reasons stated above. Everyone is both good and evil, they are not mutually exclusive. The source of our common morality is our collective empathy. We need to find not only common ground but morally superior ground as we have done recently with gay rights and the gay community. We may not be gay, our empathy may be disgusted by the thought of homosexual sex, but we can rise to erect a superior common morality based on moral relativity: we are not all morally the same because we do not all have the same empathy.
  2. B.U.I.L.D. 2015 Leadership For Responding to the Paris Attacks: was the second build-up innovation & love daily post.
Americans are never going to come together in today's current political environment without leadership that addresses the fundamental problem of the ever growing gap between the slow pace of human nature change and the ever faster pace of technological change. Americans are never going to come together in today's current political environment without leadership that addresses the fundamental problem of the ever growing gap between the empathy of conservatives and the empathy of liberals. Conservatives are going to continue to hunker down and liberals are going to continue to experiment on adapting to technology.

We must find ways to come together as a people.  Irreni World Scale represents one solution. A solution that begins by acknowledging that failed, frail, limited human empathy is the source of our morality and not religion. Irreni is solution that then takes steps to manage our small-scale personal empathy within a world scale stage.
  3. B.U.I.L.D. A Framework Framework
A fundamental flaw in the U.S. Constitution of 1789 is the declaration without specification of rights and resources. A fundamental flaw of all religions is to declare rules must be followed without then specification of the rules. Any constitution or religion that declares but does not specify is called a framework framework. Any framework framework constitution  that is put into law is a vehicle for tyranny and oppression via the golden rule: those who have the gold makes the rules. So it is today the U.S. Constitution reserves the right to print money to the Federal Government, but does not specify a bank. Because of this declaration without specification the Federal Reserve Bank is a source of tyranny and oppression within the United States and we are not free but tax and currency slaves. Likewise, all religions command their followers to not steal but do not specify rules of ownership and so within the United States today lobbyists and the wealthy are redefining the rules of ownership daily resulting in tyranny and oppression: we are not free.

A Framework Framework

The three themes are beginning to paint a new political picture for the 21st Century. In the first two posts  we are eliminating the supernatural as a common source of fixed morality and replacing a fixed morality with the actual reality of ever changing new morals needed due to the modern pace of technological advancement. Further because morals are relative then declarations of rights, rules and privileges in any constitution within a changing moral landscape are opportunities for tyranny.  In this post we are beginning to adjust our political notions from fixed to dynamic morals and further address the gaps between declarations and missing specifications.

Irreni World Scale is a first order framework. The nature of a first order framework is as follows:

  1. Broad principles designed for maximum freedom.

For example take the principle of importance:

    OI Principle of Human Quality.

OI stands for opportunity importance. Everyone has a right to opportunity and all people are equal opportunity important. Now that the age of human quality is upon us then the obligation is to afford all opportunity of importance for quality of life.
In the past societies had classes based upon supposed importance of birth or acquired wealth. No more. Everyone has the right to opportunity. This broad principle means that the next layer of framework, the next level of constitution must adhere to this principle.

  2. The golden rule of human nature must be addressed.

The pace of technological advancement relative to the rate of our ability to to change laws means there will always be an opening of new moral necessity not being kept current with existing law. To whit, specifying ownership of information for privacy will be a fast changing landscape but laws will move much slower. Therefore, the golden rule of human nature where those who have the gold makes the rules must be mitigated directly. Irreni does this using many principles such as the right to individual currency as well, six-degrees voting and corruption voting.
  3. The false golden rule of human nature must also be addressed.

Someone once said the only normal people are the people you don't know very well. The evil that is current religions is they inherently rely on the false premise of a singular human nature being uniform and a blank slate. Religions have exactly one model of human nature where the reality is there are as many models as their are people. Religions treat deviance form the singular model as evil. Only the one true model is good. Only with this uniform blank slate model does a golden rule doing unto others as you would have them do unto you make sense. However, we are not blank slates. The are seven-billion unique variations of human nature. Irreni tackles this problem head on by stating emphatically that the false golden rule of doing unto others as they would do unto you is evil, or harmful, and replaces this false golden rule with the information rule: do unto others as they are and not as you are.
  4. Address relative morality and technological pace.

The Irreni World Scale model addresses the reality that biological evolution happens slowly while technological advancement is accelerating. This mismatch is addressed by first setting up the unit of organization for humans as a tribe and not the individual. Tribes reflect the reality that our social group abilities are still at the tribe level. The evolutionary and technological pace mismatch is also address by setting up a Data Center on the Moon; the right to information and the device of life (DOL). The knowledge of technological advancement is made available to everyone, all the time. The Data Center on the Moon puts that knowledge in a physically hard-to-reach place that is yet still easily accessible by electronic means.
Irreni World Scale then represents a framework framework constitution. It is a constitution that declares but does not specify except in the broadest of fashions.

Irreni World Scale being a framework framework constitution may suggest to you that the next U.S. Constitution be drafted as a singular document on top of Irreni. However, given relative morality in a fast changing technological environment then the legal system needs to adapt much faster than U.S. Constitution amendments have been made to date. I would argue that in fact an easily layered model is the correct approach to revamping the U.S. Constitution rather than amendments. In other words perhaps hundreds of layers of new constitutions are created over the next hundred years, say one per year. Why? Because the changes need to be orchestrated just to keep pace. These multiple amendments become another constitutional layer.

Irreni World Scale is not primarily focused on the top down, where the top down approach to politics represents the U.S. Constitution.  No, what Irreni World Scale is primarily focused on is the bottom up approach to politics that is completely missing and neutralized today. Irreni aims to give the both individual and the tribe real power to wield as well as real decisions to make as a "check and balance" on the top-down only approach we have today.

Once more with feeling?

A fundamental flaw in the U.S. Constitution of 1789 is the declaration without specification of rights and resources. A fundamental flaw of all religions is to declare rules must be followed without specifying the rules. Any constitution or religion that declares but does not specify is called a framework framework. Any framework framework constitution or religion that is put directly into practice as law is a vehicle for tyranny and oppression via the golden rule: those who have the gold make the rules, everyone else just has to obey the rules per the constitution or religion. So it is today the U.S. Constitution reserves to the Federal Government the right to print money, but does not specify a bank. Because of this declaration without specification the Federal Reserve Bank is a source of tyranny and oppression within the United States and we are not free but tax and currency slaves. Likewise, all religions command their followers to not steal but do not specify rules of ownership and so within the United States today lobbyists and the wealthy are redefining the rules of tax and ownership daily in their favor resulting in tyranny and oppression for the rest of us: we are financially oppressed.

B.U.I.L.D. 2015 Leadership For Responding to the Paris Attacks.

Hi! Happy Sunday!

If I were the President of the United States this blog post represents the leadership I would give after the Paris Attacks.

I begin with a graphic that puts the challenge of today in correct form of technology versus evolution:

Some have framed the Paris attacks as a clash of civilizations. I believe that framing is wrong. The correct framing of the Paris attacks is a growing gap between the pace of technological change and the ability of the brain to accommodate that change. It is somewhat understandable from people who should no better to frame this as a clash between western civilization and Islamic civilization.

The reason I say somewhat understandable is that Western culture is changing so fast today that during the time it takes to measure and classify Western culture then the Western culture will have changed to make those measurements and classifications meaningless.

We have yet to scratch the surface of understanding the ramifications on the human body and human brain that all the technology over these last one-hundred years have introduced. And since the advent of the information age when the Internet was made public the rate of change has grown exponentially faster.

We need leadership that can stand up and identify the source of the problem and then provide solutions. The American people are desperate for solutions.

Modern leadership needs to reconcile the slow pace of evolution with the rapid change of technology as it impacts the brain.

Today modern leadership is impotent. Modern leadership can be summed up in one sentence. Say what is safe as determined by polling. Even the most outrageous claims of the most outrageous candidates are just telling people what they want to hear and they are not leading.

Irreni World Scale is a framework from which to build modern leadership. Irreni is an acronym that means innovation replaces revolution, engineering not ideology. B.U.I.L.D. is an acronym that means build up innovation and love daily.

These acronyms are leadership acronyms designed to help you remember what the objectives of modern leadership are.

Innovation replaces revolution signifies that the seven-billion Earthlings today live in a technological era that cannot be destroyed by a revolution or millions and billions of people will suffer and die. We must innovate.

Engineering replaces ideology signifies that ideology cannot hold up to an environment that is rapidly changing. Any ideology one cares to bring to the table today will be based on a set of assumptions that technology will make obsolete tomorrow.

B.U.I.L.D. is a reminder of the pace that we need to innovate and love daily. We cannot sit still.

The Irreni solutions are based on reconciling evolution with technology within our brains.

Below is another graphic the showed up shortly after the Paris attacks of Nov. 13th, 2015:

Americans are deeply divided today about what to do about Paris:
  1. Born to kill.
  2. Peace.
Those two options appeared as graffiti on the helmet of a reporter in the movie "Full Metal Jacket".

America is deeply divided about what to do about the Syrian refugees:

  1. Let none in.
  2. Let more in.a
These divisions can be linked to party lines: conservative versus liberal. Further these divisions can be linked to evolution lines: human nature changes slowly versus an environment that changes rapidly.

Leadership today needs to address the growing gap between conservatives and liberals caused by the rapid rate of change of technology.

Conservatives justly focus on human nature slowly changing. Religion and tradition are not suppose to change quickly because humans do not change quickly.

Liberals justly focus on technology quickly changing our environment. Liberals are always experimenting with new ways to adapt human nature to our new reality.

Both sides, conservative and liberal, are justified in objectives. Both sides are incomplete in their focus.

If we are not careful in this country there will be a civil war of some sort between liberals and conservatives precisely because the stress of the pace technological change is not being managed with relation to the pace of evolution.

Irreni World Scale manages these opposing rates of change. Irreni World Scale manages the pace of evolution with the pace of technology.

It is for this reason that Irreni is a framework and not a constitution. Irreni represents a framework upon which the next U.S. Constitution should be built. But we can start the work of Irreni today before we split even further apart as a country.

How? How does Irreni World Scale address this split between evolutionary pace and technological pace?

Irreni closes the gap by managing empathy. In my last blog post I made a short case that religion is not the source of morality. It never has been and it never will be. The source of morality is our own, flawed, imperfect empathy. It is our imperfect empathy that is the cause for Christians of this country to be morally polar opposites on all the big issues: abortion, capital punishment, guns, immigration, war and finances.

Irreni World Scale manages empathy at a world scale, not a national scale. Realize we are talking about our world scale response to what happened in Paris. Our American empathy needs to be managed at a world scale. What are we going to do about Paris and what are we going to do about the Syrian refugees? What is our American empathy response? What is our American moral response?

Solution One: Six-degrees Voting

You can't know seven-billion people on this planet. You can't know 300-million people in this country. I live in California and I can't know 30-million Californians? In fact we can only know around one-hundred people in our life-times. From an evolutionary time-line perspective we only ever got to know the people in our tribe.

Irreni World Scale then brings back the concept of a tribe as a unit of people. You vote for who you know. The people you know are the people you are best likely to trust correctly, the best use of your empathy. The people you don't know like today's political candidates are the people you are worst likely to trust correctly.

Six-degrees voting states that you can only vote for people you know, people in your tribe. A Canadian professor did research last century to show that there is at most six-degrees, or six people, separating any two individuals on planet Earth.

Six-degrees voting represents the first step at healing the conservative-liberal divide. Everyone knows everyone indirectly by at most six-degrees separation. Our empathy can work with a number as small as six.

Solution Two: Public Voting

Public voting requires real leadership because polls show 90% of the people are against having their votes made public.

The times have changed. In an evolutionary setting where people were locked into their tribe then someone only ever knew the people within their tribe. Private voting allowed people to avoid persecution of a vote cast

In a modern setting the world is your oyster. You can move at any time, almost anywhere. You can much easier find your tribe today than any time in history because so many more tribe choices are available via the Internet.

Further, social media and mass communication means that hiding your political beliefs and views is nigh impossible. In other words, you are already publicly voting in everything but actual vote casting. Everyone in your family and social network already knows how you lean politically. How you lean politically is all the cause needed for persecution, making the actual vote a moot point. If people are going to persecute you for your political views then they are already doing it. A public vote isn't going to change that.

Six-degree voting also takes the persecution edge off. Six-degrees voting means you only vote for who you know and you are not directly voting for a particular candidate.

Six-degree voting requires public voting so we can all see the six-degree connections.

Solution Three: Corruption Voting

Corruption is problem today that needs no argument because everyone is aware of it and agrees corruption is a problem that will bring down the United States, possibly soon.

What is being corrupted though? The answer? Our empathy is being corrupted.

The founders knew corruption was a problem and partly addressed it. The did so by setting up a system of checks and balances. If the President was corrupted the Congress could check the President. The Judicial Branch checks the Congress and President. The President checks the Congress by veto and checks the Judicial Branch by making appointments.

The founders knew corruption was a problem and partly did not address it:
"Whoa be the day the voters realize they can vote themselves money." -John Adams
The founders had no answers to voters voting themselves money, Irreni does and it is called corruption voting.

Corruption voting also depends on public voting. Corruption voting allows people to be paid for their vote directly under one condition: the payment is also made public.

Public record of vote payments essentially starts an auction war. Rich people will cancel each other out by trying to outspend each other on buying votes.

Rich people cancelling each out happens already today. The do so via advertisement. It is estimated that roughly $5,000,000,000 will be spent in the 2016 campaign. Democrats and Republicans cancel each other out in a spending race.

Irreni corruption voting takes the money currently spent on campaigns and puts that money in your pocket.

How does corruption voting manage the corrupting of an elected Democracy by people voting themselves money? Irreni manages corruption by flipping the consequences of voting money on its head. Inherently people do not understand scale, especially large scale. Today the people vote for people who will give them money and they do not understand the national impact of that. When voting corruption is made legally then people will take the immediate payment and spend it as they see fit. The human defect in empathy of scale is neutralized by direct payment.

Won't the rich be able to buy elections? This idea was true back in the day. We don't live back in the day. We live in the day when there are millions of millionaires and hundreds of billionaires.

Irreni World Scale is of a time. These solutions such as corruption voting rely on modern technology. This brings me to the next leadership solution: technology.

Solution Four: Device of Life and the Data Center on the Moon

All the above voting ideas can only be realized if everyone has access to smart phones. Irreni calls smart phones the Devide of Life (DOL). The differences between just a smart phone and a DOL are that 1.) everyone on planet Earth gets one for life and 2.) the DOL is connected to the Data Center on the Moon.

The Device of Life is simply a smart phone that has voting applications that implements six-degrees voting, public voting and corruption voting. However, information needs to reside in a neutral place far away from the hands of quick, easy fixing. Therefore the DOL is required to connect to the Data Center on the Moon.

The Data Center on the Moon is meant to be an Earth Public space where everyone has access to all the world's public information.

Scale Your Empathy, Scale The World

Irreni World Scale is real leadership that is needed to answer the questions: what do we about Paris and what do we do about the Syrian refugees as Americans, together? We begin by starting the slow, hard work of bringing Americans together as Americans. If we fail to to do this then whatever immediate solution is chosen by the President then that solution will further cleave America in two, albeit the solutions is to let the Syrians in, to keep the Syrians out, to wage all out war on ISIS or to wage tactical war on ISIS. Our collective empathy, or collective morality is the first problem we Americans need to solve.

B.U.I.L.D. Resetting Your World View

Hi! Happy Monday!

B.U.I.L.D. stands for "B.U.I.L.D. Up Innovation & Love Daily". B.U.I.L.D. is an infinitely recursive definition in that the definition contains the word itself. This reflects the task at hand: indefinite innovation.

Irreni is about solutions and not opinion. Today's solution is entitled, "Resetting Your World View."

Supernatural is out for all politics. Moral relativity is in. The Muslims aren't going to kill all the Christians, the Christians aren't going to kill all the Muslims. Therefore, moral relativity is in.

So what does this mean for your world view? and resetting it? What it means is we need to set natural limits on morality, natural limits on good and evil.

B.U.I.L.D. Resetting Your World View

The Irreni World Scale solution to resetting your world view is eliminate the supernatural from morality and to also embrace relative morality for all the reasons stated below.

The journey of beginning to embrace Irreni World Scale is to reset your world view to relative morality informed by collective natural empathy and not by personal supernatural experience.

As an anti-theist atheist I know what your thinking. You are thinking I'm saying this because I'm not religious. Not at all. I'm saying this because the supernatural has only one known instrument of measurement: personal experience. Whatever you think you know about anything supernatural is personal because that supernatural experience has no natural measurement.

So, since the religious folks are not going to exterminate each other and since measuring supernatural experience is non-transferable between people then our only choice is set natural boundaries on morality, even if supernatural ones exist in your mind.

What is the source of the morality?

Empathy is the source of morality, not religion. In fact, religion gets morality wrong on so many topics then all religion does is muddy the already murky waters of differing empathy capacities between people.

Let us put religion as the source of morality to the test shall we? Let us do so with a couple of images.

Test 1: Enola Gay vs. ISIS

There are two pictures here on top of each other. The first picture is of the pilot of the Enola Gay who dropped an atomic bomb on Japan and thus killing hundreds-of-thousands of civilians. The second picture is of an I.S.I.S. beheading.

Which of these pictures represent faces of evil? In other words, if a scientific experiment were conducted of all Christians about the evil seen in these pictures then the answer should be the same for all Christians if religion is the source of morality . Further the answer of evil should differentiate Christian and non-Christian groups. Look into your heart and ask yourself honestly these questions:

Do Christians have a consistent morality for what is displayed in the above pictures? Do Christians have even the slightest moral consistency above and beyond non-Christians when presented with the above pictures? [EDITOR'S NOTE: No]

Test 2: Tamir Rice

The video is of the police shooting and killing of a twelve-year old Tamir Rice.

If Christianity or any religion is a source of morality then the answers to all the questions below should be crystal morally clear:

  1. Are the police officers evil?
  2. Did the police sin?
  3. Are the police morally wrong?
  4. If the police are not morally wrong, why not?
  5. If the police are morally wrong, why?
Are these police officers evil by religious standards?

The question isn't whether you are clear but on whether the Christian community as a whole is clear on the moral answers to the above questions. If not then this challenges the claim that religion is the source of morality.

Morality fails at large scale

The Enola Gay example was chosen to demonstrate we just cannot empathize scale. Even though we know the pilot of the Enola Gay was directly responsible for killing hundreds-of-thousands of people, many people would have a hard time thinking of the pilot as evil and further thinking of him as more evil than vicious killers doing beheadings.

As Stalin said, kill one person it is murder, kill one million people and it is statistic. Empathy doesn't scale and neither does our morality. Religion makes no difference in that regard.

If religion really was the source of morality,  more importantly if the supernatural were the source of morality, then this morality would insulate people from doing evil. The source of morality would inoculate good people from doing bad things.

Hitler didn't kill millions of people, Christians soldiers did. Stalin didn't kill millions of people, Christian soldiers did. Neither the government of the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany were founded with non-religious citizens. Instead, the majority of their country populations were very religious, just as they were the day before these governments came to power. It takes generations for a culture to change, not overnight. Germany and the Soviet Union may have been anti-religious in their government policy but not in their citizenry culture.

And today? Whenever we think of religion and politics in this country we first think of the religious right, and never of the religious left. Why? Where is the religious left? One would think their source of morality, religion, would compel the religious left to be speak out against the religious right? The religious left in this country is no more standing up to the religious right then the Christian soldiers and citizens stood up to Stalin or Hitler in their respective countries. The Christian left in America represents millions of Americans and yet they are silent with respect to the religious right.

Time-and-time again with endless examples throughout history it can be shown that religion as the source of morality fails utterly and completely. The African American and Native American experiences in this country are just two further examples.

Today there thousands of new moral dilemmas in which followers of Christianity can be found morally ambiguous and confused. Further, religion oft times has no answers at all:
  1. Abortion
  2. Porn
  3. Violence in movies and entertainment.
  4. Sex in movies and entertainment.
  5. Capital punishment.
  6. Guns
  7. War in Iraq and Afghanistan
  8. Immigration
  9. Water boarding
These are not minor issues but issues that define our very national character.  And yet religion does not provide any source of morality within the religious community or America at large. Christians have hundreds and thousands of moral positions on the moral dilemmas listed above, the same as non-Christians. Religion is not the source of morality.

The Case of Christopher Hitchens

Okay, at this point you may be thinking that I'm just espousing anti-theist rhetoric and not building up to any solution. But that's not the case.

I already stated the solution: the supernatural cannot inform relative morality.

I think Christopher Hitchens was a morally good man...when it comes to anti-theism. If you search Youtube for "Christopher Hitchens" then you will find all kinds of videos where Hitchens tears down religion with great success.

And yet I think Christopher Hitchens was a morally evil man...when it comes to war and specifically the war on terrorism. Why? Because Hitchens believed in the supernatural. Yes, that's right, an atheist can believe in the supernatural even if they do not believe in god.

What am I referring too? I'm referring to what Hitchens would see in the picture above of the beheading. When one looks at that photo one can easily feel one is starring into the eyes of evil. Pure evil.

But what does that mean? Evil as some supernatural force doesn't exist in people. Yet Christopher Hitchens claimed he saw evil inside people, or people under the influence of the supernatural.

Once humans demonize other humans and make them into something not-human then we  justify killing our "enemies". And that was Christopher Hitchens: a believer in the supernatural, the supernatural of evil being a force at work in people. He wanted to kill them.

The Case of George Washington

You may not have heard of Christopher Hitchens but you most certainly have heard of George Washington.

George Washington was a morally good man.
George Washington was a morally evil man.

I can hold the above two statements about Washington easily in my mind. But how can I? The two statements are logically contradictory aren't they?

Yes and no. Yes if one believes in the supernatural. It is common to all religions that being possessed by either good or evil are mutually exclusive, you can't be both good and evil.  For the record, this is just one of the myriad of reasons one can generalize about religions, because they all see good and evil as mutually exclusive.

That mutually exclusive state though is only a contradiction when the supernatural is  involved.

I do not believe in the supernatural. I believe good and evil are based intuitively on empathy and can be managed intellectually. Therefore I see Washington had a good morality and good empathy when it came to founding this country. Washington had an evil morality and bad empathy when it came to owning slaves.

B.U.I.L.D. Resetting Your World View

The journey of beginning to embrace Irreni World Scale is to reset your world view to relative morality informed by collective natural empathy and not by personal supernatural experience.

What are these natural limits? Here is the easy part, we just redefine good and evil without any supernatural references. The solution is to reset your world view for good and evil as defined below:

evil: 1. harmful, 2. the state of mind whereby thoughts of harming and killing others are acted upon.

good: 1. helpful, 2. the state of mind whereby actively helping others not only helps them but helps yourself.
