Irreni Solutions vs. The United States of America

Hi! Zappy Friday!

Irreni World Scale is about solutions. This is blog post will be no different.

Irreni World Scale includes the word "World" and so justly so one might get the wrong impression that Irreni is about a new world order, but it is not.

Irreni World Scale vs. The United States of America is a case of mistaken identity.

What is the American identity? What does it mean to say one is patriotic in America? Surely that term patriotic must mean something about our collective national identity, does it not?

I watched the Republican Presidential debates this week. I learned something. Donald Trump is on the stump stating if elected President then he will not only kill the terrorists, but also their families. What I found shocking is that this barely raised any eyebrow.

George Washington never tortured. He was presented with the opportunity to torture many times. He never did.

Realize that never was the fate of this nation so insecure, the odds so terribly against our very survival, as at the onset. The British out-gunned us and out-manned as. The British were far wealthier.

Given all this Washington refused to torture. Why? Because Washington made a very important point that is just as relevant today as it was during the Revolutionary War.

Washington said that the character of a nation defines the nation and that he was not fighting for and did not want to be part of a nation that tortured.

In the same way I do not want to be part of a nation that kills the families of criminals. I do not want to be part of nation that kills without trial or kills the innocent to save their own ass. There is an ancient word for this kind of behavior: coward. Donald Trump is a coward. I am not.

So many things have transpired since 9/11 that have undermined every character trait of what it means to be an American...torture being just one in a long list. Another example is that we trivially undermined the concept of a prisoner of war by a simple wordsmithing: we labeled them enemy combatants just to skirt the Geneva Convention. We house "enemy combatants" at Gitmo without any treaty or legal restraint by a simple act of word usage.

The question posed by the debate moderator to Donald about killing family members was this: how can the U.S. kill innocent family members when that is forbidden by the Geneva convention? What's laughable about this question is that the Bush administration already supplied the answer: simple legal wordsmithing.

Cry my beloved country, cry. Why would we hang our national character, our very identity on the Geneva convention? Doesn't killing family members violate American character first and foremost? Why wouldn't we, as Americans, have enough character within ourselves to disavow killing the families of criminals and state this violates every fiber or our American identity? How can one call oneself an American and sponsor killing family members? And yet here we are.

How did it come to this? How is it that we have so lost our way, how is it that we have lost our national identity such that our country has been reduced to most despicable tyrannical of identities: might makes right? What happened to our belief in innocent until proven guilty? What has happened to America?

The answer? Technology.

Technology happened. In this case the culprit is mass communication.

The thing is that a national character, a social culture relies in great part on a singular view of human nature built upon  ignorance and lies, on tyranny and deception.

Daniel Dennet is a person of interest to me as an atheist. He has a theory based on data that religion will soon die out because of the Internet. Mass communication is making society more transparent than ever before and exposing all the lies told by religion.

Every fiber in the fabric of culture today is being upended by information replacing ignorance, transparency exposing deception. From the smallest societal level, the family, where husbands for all of history controlled the family by ignorance and force, the wives were lied too with limited education and information so how could they not believe to the largest scale  of society where religions all have promoted a single human nature as true, a singular human nature set of rules about things like marriage. This singular human nature view has been a lie the entire time. Now, though, we are collectively waking up and gay marriage is only the first of a coming deluge of human nature's diversity acknowledgements.

Any singular world view of human nature albeit national character or religion   is doomed to die in age of information transparency and mass communication.

In the United States the destruction of our singular world view of our national character of what it means to be American accelerated in the 1990s at the birth of the Internet. The Internet using web browsers started in 1993 when Netscape Mosaic was released. Not long after Rush Limbaugh took to the airwaves and also Fox News.

Fox News and Rush Limbaugh were not just challenging media lies of liberal bias. No, conservative media challenged our national identity definition that had been tightly controlled through limited mass communication of ABC, NBC and CBS.

When the conservatives say they want to take this country back they do not mean they want to go back to the 1950s era of only ABC, NBC and CBS and liberal controlled media. That is not what they mean by taking the country back.

No, when the conservatives say they want to take this country back what they mean is to redefine national character historically, an alternate national narrative to completely rewrite all of American history since the civil war they see promoted by liberal media.

How can a country survive without a national character? How can a country survive with diametrically opposed and  juxtaposed national characters on such major issues as:
  1. abortion
  2. war
  3. capitalism
  4. torture
  5. guns
just to name a few.

The answer, of course, is we can't. Our national character and all cultural characters have been historically been built upon ignorance and deception; two fundamental principles becoming ever increasing impossible in an age of information and transparency.

Irreni has a solution: find your tribe. It is of course ludicrous to believe 300 million Americans could ever willingly agree to a single national character, a single definition of patriotic. That's impossible. So we must give up that notion in an era of information and transparency.

Now, today, what the human condition throughout the entire world needs is for bottom up identity and bottom up power: find your tribe. The "World" then in Irreni World Scale is about the world shifting to local identities and admitting that the days of any singular human nature defined by religion and nation are  not feasible. Instead how we define ourselves is first by our person, second by our tribe, and then ever weaker by ever larger sets of tribes.

This has to be. Bottom up identity has to be.  In a world of seven billion people how does one find ones sense of self-worth and importance from the top down? You are irrelevant and disaffected? The answer has to be identities most treasured importance is  from the bottom up and not the top down that has been the case in modern history.  To whit, Irreni World Scale is a solution that is of a time and place. Irreni World Scale addresses technological changes in society brought on by technological scale and hence is only applicable when those technological scale conditions exist. If ever mass communication is destroyed then ignorance and deception will once again usher forth a singular human nature world view...and all of the tyranny, suffering and oppression that goes along with it.

Find your tribe! That is the Irreni World Scale solution to the much needed disintegration of cultures founded upon singular human nature views that can only be sustained via ignorance and lies.

B.U.I.L.D. A Framework Framework

Hi! Happy Sunday!

This is the third post in a series outlining how to move politics forward in the 21st Century. This is the third post in a series where the obsolete ideologies of democracy, republic, religion, capitalism and federalism to name a few are upended in order to scale to the needs of a planet with seven billion people.

Recap

  1. B.U.I.L.D. Resetting Your World View: this was the first build-up innovation & love daily post.
The Irreni World Scale solution to resetting your world view is eliminate the supernatural from morality and to also embrace relative morality for all the reasons stated above. Everyone is both good and evil, they are not mutually exclusive. The source of our common morality is our collective empathy. We need to find not only common ground but morally superior ground as we have done recently with gay rights and the gay community. We may not be gay, our empathy may be disgusted by the thought of homosexual sex, but we can rise to erect a superior common morality based on moral relativity: we are not all morally the same because we do not all have the same empathy.
  2. B.U.I.L.D. 2015 Leadership For Responding to the Paris Attacks: was the second build-up innovation & love daily post.
Americans are never going to come together in today's current political environment without leadership that addresses the fundamental problem of the ever growing gap between the slow pace of human nature change and the ever faster pace of technological change. Americans are never going to come together in today's current political environment without leadership that addresses the fundamental problem of the ever growing gap between the empathy of conservatives and the empathy of liberals. Conservatives are going to continue to hunker down and liberals are going to continue to experiment on adapting to technology.

We must find ways to come together as a people.  Irreni World Scale represents one solution. A solution that begins by acknowledging that failed, frail, limited human empathy is the source of our morality and not religion. Irreni is solution that then takes steps to manage our small-scale personal empathy within a world scale stage.
  3. B.U.I.L.D. A Framework Framework
A fundamental flaw in the U.S. Constitution of 1789 is the declaration without specification of rights and resources. A fundamental flaw of all religions is to declare rules must be followed without then specification of the rules. Any constitution or religion that declares but does not specify is called a framework framework. Any framework framework constitution  that is put into law is a vehicle for tyranny and oppression via the golden rule: those who have the gold makes the rules. So it is today the U.S. Constitution reserves the right to print money to the Federal Government, but does not specify a bank. Because of this declaration without specification the Federal Reserve Bank is a source of tyranny and oppression within the United States and we are not free but tax and currency slaves. Likewise, all religions command their followers to not steal but do not specify rules of ownership and so within the United States today lobbyists and the wealthy are redefining the rules of ownership daily resulting in tyranny and oppression: we are not free.

A Framework Framework

The three themes are beginning to paint a new political picture for the 21st Century. In the first two posts  we are eliminating the supernatural as a common source of fixed morality and replacing a fixed morality with the actual reality of ever changing new morals needed due to the modern pace of technological advancement. Further because morals are relative then declarations of rights, rules and privileges in any constitution within a changing moral landscape are opportunities for tyranny.  In this post we are beginning to adjust our political notions from fixed to dynamic morals and further address the gaps between declarations and missing specifications.

Irreni World Scale is a first order framework. The nature of a first order framework is as follows:

  1. Broad principles designed for maximum freedom.

For example take the principle of importance:

    OI Principle of Human Quality.

OI stands for opportunity importance. Everyone has a right to opportunity and all people are equal opportunity important. Now that the age of human quality is upon us then the obligation is to afford all opportunity of importance for quality of life.
In the past societies had classes based upon supposed importance of birth or acquired wealth. No more. Everyone has the right to opportunity. This broad principle means that the next layer of framework, the next level of constitution must adhere to this principle.

  2. The golden rule of human nature must be addressed.

The pace of technological advancement relative to the rate of our ability to to change laws means there will always be an opening of new moral necessity not being kept current with existing law. To whit, specifying ownership of information for privacy will be a fast changing landscape but laws will move much slower. Therefore, the golden rule of human nature where those who have the gold makes the rules must be mitigated directly. Irreni does this using many principles such as the right to individual currency as well, six-degrees voting and corruption voting.
  3. The false golden rule of human nature must also be addressed.

Someone once said the only normal people are the people you don't know very well. The evil that is current religions is they inherently rely on the false premise of a singular human nature being uniform and a blank slate. Religions have exactly one model of human nature where the reality is there are as many models as their are people. Religions treat deviance form the singular model as evil. Only the one true model is good. Only with this uniform blank slate model does a golden rule doing unto others as you would have them do unto you make sense. However, we are not blank slates. The are seven-billion unique variations of human nature. Irreni tackles this problem head on by stating emphatically that the false golden rule of doing unto others as they would do unto you is evil, or harmful, and replaces this false golden rule with the information rule: do unto others as they are and not as you are.
  4. Address relative morality and technological pace.

The Irreni World Scale model addresses the reality that biological evolution happens slowly while technological advancement is accelerating. This mismatch is addressed by first setting up the unit of organization for humans as a tribe and not the individual. Tribes reflect the reality that our social group abilities are still at the tribe level. The evolutionary and technological pace mismatch is also address by setting up a Data Center on the Moon; the right to information and the device of life (DOL). The knowledge of technological advancement is made available to everyone, all the time. The Data Center on the Moon puts that knowledge in a physically hard-to-reach place that is yet still easily accessible by electronic means.
Irreni World Scale then represents a framework framework constitution. It is a constitution that declares but does not specify except in the broadest of fashions.

Irreni World Scale being a framework framework constitution may suggest to you that the next U.S. Constitution be drafted as a singular document on top of Irreni. However, given relative morality in a fast changing technological environment then the legal system needs to adapt much faster than U.S. Constitution amendments have been made to date. I would argue that in fact an easily layered model is the correct approach to revamping the U.S. Constitution rather than amendments. In other words perhaps hundreds of layers of new constitutions are created over the next hundred years, say one per year. Why? Because the changes need to be orchestrated just to keep pace. These multiple amendments become another constitutional layer.

Irreni World Scale is not primarily focused on the top down, where the top down approach to politics represents the U.S. Constitution.  No, what Irreni World Scale is primarily focused on is the bottom up approach to politics that is completely missing and neutralized today. Irreni aims to give the both individual and the tribe real power to wield as well as real decisions to make as a "check and balance" on the top-down only approach we have today.

Once more with feeling?

A fundamental flaw in the U.S. Constitution of 1789 is the declaration without specification of rights and resources. A fundamental flaw of all religions is to declare rules must be followed without specifying the rules. Any constitution or religion that declares but does not specify is called a framework framework. Any framework framework constitution or religion that is put directly into practice as law is a vehicle for tyranny and oppression via the golden rule: those who have the gold make the rules, everyone else just has to obey the rules per the constitution or religion. So it is today the U.S. Constitution reserves to the Federal Government the right to print money, but does not specify a bank. Because of this declaration without specification the Federal Reserve Bank is a source of tyranny and oppression within the United States and we are not free but tax and currency slaves. Likewise, all religions command their followers to not steal but do not specify rules of ownership and so within the United States today lobbyists and the wealthy are redefining the rules of tax and ownership daily in their favor resulting in tyranny and oppression for the rest of us: we are financially oppressed.

B.U.I.L.D. 2015 Leadership For Responding to the Paris Attacks.

Hi! Happy Sunday!

If I were the President of the United States this blog post represents the leadership I would give after the Paris Attacks.

I begin with a graphic that puts the challenge of today in correct form of technology versus evolution:

Some have framed the Paris attacks as a clash of civilizations. I believe that framing is wrong. The correct framing of the Paris attacks is a growing gap between the pace of technological change and the ability of the brain to accommodate that change. It is somewhat understandable from people who should no better to frame this as a clash between western civilization and Islamic civilization.

The reason I say somewhat understandable is that Western culture is changing so fast today that during the time it takes to measure and classify Western culture then the Western culture will have changed to make those measurements and classifications meaningless.

We have yet to scratch the surface of understanding the ramifications on the human body and human brain that all the technology over these last one-hundred years have introduced. And since the advent of the information age when the Internet was made public the rate of change has grown exponentially faster.

We need leadership that can stand up and identify the source of the problem and then provide solutions. The American people are desperate for solutions.

Modern leadership needs to reconcile the slow pace of evolution with the rapid change of technology as it impacts the brain.

Today modern leadership is impotent. Modern leadership can be summed up in one sentence. Say what is safe as determined by polling. Even the most outrageous claims of the most outrageous candidates are just telling people what they want to hear and they are not leading.

Irreni World Scale is a framework from which to build modern leadership. Irreni is an acronym that means innovation replaces revolution, engineering not ideology. B.U.I.L.D. is an acronym that means build up innovation and love daily.

These acronyms are leadership acronyms designed to help you remember what the objectives of modern leadership are.

Innovation replaces revolution signifies that the seven-billion Earthlings today live in a technological era that cannot be destroyed by a revolution or millions and billions of people will suffer and die. We must innovate.

Engineering replaces ideology signifies that ideology cannot hold up to an environment that is rapidly changing. Any ideology one cares to bring to the table today will be based on a set of assumptions that technology will make obsolete tomorrow.

B.U.I.L.D. is a reminder of the pace that we need to innovate and love daily. We cannot sit still.

The Irreni solutions are based on reconciling evolution with technology within our brains.

Below is another graphic the showed up shortly after the Paris attacks of Nov. 13th, 2015:

Americans are deeply divided today about what to do about Paris:
  1. Born to kill.
  2. Peace.
Those two options appeared as graffiti on the helmet of a reporter in the movie "Full Metal Jacket".

America is deeply divided about what to do about the Syrian refugees:

  1. Let none in.
  2. Let more in.a
These divisions can be linked to party lines: conservative versus liberal. Further these divisions can be linked to evolution lines: human nature changes slowly versus an environment that changes rapidly.

Leadership today needs to address the growing gap between conservatives and liberals caused by the rapid rate of change of technology.

Conservatives justly focus on human nature slowly changing. Religion and tradition are not suppose to change quickly because humans do not change quickly.

Liberals justly focus on technology quickly changing our environment. Liberals are always experimenting with new ways to adapt human nature to our new reality.

Both sides, conservative and liberal, are justified in objectives. Both sides are incomplete in their focus.

If we are not careful in this country there will be a civil war of some sort between liberals and conservatives precisely because the stress of the pace technological change is not being managed with relation to the pace of evolution.

Irreni World Scale manages these opposing rates of change. Irreni World Scale manages the pace of evolution with the pace of technology.

It is for this reason that Irreni is a framework and not a constitution. Irreni represents a framework upon which the next U.S. Constitution should be built. But we can start the work of Irreni today before we split even further apart as a country.

How? How does Irreni World Scale address this split between evolutionary pace and technological pace?

Irreni closes the gap by managing empathy. In my last blog post I made a short case that religion is not the source of morality. It never has been and it never will be. The source of morality is our own, flawed, imperfect empathy. It is our imperfect empathy that is the cause for Christians of this country to be morally polar opposites on all the big issues: abortion, capital punishment, guns, immigration, war and finances.

Irreni World Scale manages empathy at a world scale, not a national scale. Realize we are talking about our world scale response to what happened in Paris. Our American empathy needs to be managed at a world scale. What are we going to do about Paris and what are we going to do about the Syrian refugees? What is our American empathy response? What is our American moral response?

Solution One: Six-degrees Voting

You can't know seven-billion people on this planet. You can't know 300-million people in this country. I live in California and I can't know 30-million Californians? In fact we can only know around one-hundred people in our life-times. From an evolutionary time-line perspective we only ever got to know the people in our tribe.

Irreni World Scale then brings back the concept of a tribe as a unit of people. You vote for who you know. The people you know are the people you are best likely to trust correctly, the best use of your empathy. The people you don't know like today's political candidates are the people you are worst likely to trust correctly.

Six-degrees voting states that you can only vote for people you know, people in your tribe. A Canadian professor did research last century to show that there is at most six-degrees, or six people, separating any two individuals on planet Earth.

Six-degrees voting represents the first step at healing the conservative-liberal divide. Everyone knows everyone indirectly by at most six-degrees separation. Our empathy can work with a number as small as six.

Solution Two: Public Voting

Public voting requires real leadership because polls show 90% of the people are against having their votes made public.

The times have changed. In an evolutionary setting where people were locked into their tribe then someone only ever knew the people within their tribe. Private voting allowed people to avoid persecution of a vote cast

In a modern setting the world is your oyster. You can move at any time, almost anywhere. You can much easier find your tribe today than any time in history because so many more tribe choices are available via the Internet.

Further, social media and mass communication means that hiding your political beliefs and views is nigh impossible. In other words, you are already publicly voting in everything but actual vote casting. Everyone in your family and social network already knows how you lean politically. How you lean politically is all the cause needed for persecution, making the actual vote a moot point. If people are going to persecute you for your political views then they are already doing it. A public vote isn't going to change that.

Six-degree voting also takes the persecution edge off. Six-degrees voting means you only vote for who you know and you are not directly voting for a particular candidate.

Six-degree voting requires public voting so we can all see the six-degree connections.

Solution Three: Corruption Voting

Corruption is problem today that needs no argument because everyone is aware of it and agrees corruption is a problem that will bring down the United States, possibly soon.

What is being corrupted though? The answer? Our empathy is being corrupted.

The founders knew corruption was a problem and partly addressed it. The did so by setting up a system of checks and balances. If the President was corrupted the Congress could check the President. The Judicial Branch checks the Congress and President. The President checks the Congress by veto and checks the Judicial Branch by making appointments.

The founders knew corruption was a problem and partly did not address it:
"Whoa be the day the voters realize they can vote themselves money." -John Adams
The founders had no answers to voters voting themselves money, Irreni does and it is called corruption voting.

Corruption voting also depends on public voting. Corruption voting allows people to be paid for their vote directly under one condition: the payment is also made public.

Public record of vote payments essentially starts an auction war. Rich people will cancel each other out by trying to outspend each other on buying votes.

Rich people cancelling each out happens already today. The do so via advertisement. It is estimated that roughly $5,000,000,000 will be spent in the 2016 campaign. Democrats and Republicans cancel each other out in a spending race.

Irreni corruption voting takes the money currently spent on campaigns and puts that money in your pocket.

How does corruption voting manage the corrupting of an elected Democracy by people voting themselves money? Irreni manages corruption by flipping the consequences of voting money on its head. Inherently people do not understand scale, especially large scale. Today the people vote for people who will give them money and they do not understand the national impact of that. When voting corruption is made legally then people will take the immediate payment and spend it as they see fit. The human defect in empathy of scale is neutralized by direct payment.

Won't the rich be able to buy elections? This idea was true back in the day. We don't live back in the day. We live in the day when there are millions of millionaires and hundreds of billionaires.

Irreni World Scale is of a time. These solutions such as corruption voting rely on modern technology. This brings me to the next leadership solution: technology.

Solution Four: Device of Life and the Data Center on the Moon

All the above voting ideas can only be realized if everyone has access to smart phones. Irreni calls smart phones the Devide of Life (DOL). The differences between just a smart phone and a DOL are that 1.) everyone on planet Earth gets one for life and 2.) the DOL is connected to the Data Center on the Moon.

The Device of Life is simply a smart phone that has voting applications that implements six-degrees voting, public voting and corruption voting. However, information needs to reside in a neutral place far away from the hands of quick, easy fixing. Therefore the DOL is required to connect to the Data Center on the Moon.

The Data Center on the Moon is meant to be an Earth Public space where everyone has access to all the world's public information.

Scale Your Empathy, Scale The World

Irreni World Scale is real leadership that is needed to answer the questions: what do we about Paris and what do we do about the Syrian refugees as Americans, together? We begin by starting the slow, hard work of bringing Americans together as Americans. If we fail to to do this then whatever immediate solution is chosen by the President then that solution will further cleave America in two, albeit the solutions is to let the Syrians in, to keep the Syrians out, to wage all out war on ISIS or to wage tactical war on ISIS. Our collective empathy, or collective morality is the first problem we Americans need to solve.

B.U.I.L.D. Resetting Your World View

Hi! Happy Monday!

B.U.I.L.D. stands for "B.U.I.L.D. Up Innovation & Love Daily". B.U.I.L.D. is an infinitely recursive definition in that the definition contains the word itself. This reflects the task at hand: indefinite innovation.

Irreni is about solutions and not opinion. Today's solution is entitled, "Resetting Your World View."

Supernatural is out for all politics. Moral relativity is in. The Muslims aren't going to kill all the Christians, the Christians aren't going to kill all the Muslims. Therefore, moral relativity is in.

So what does this mean for your world view? and resetting it? What it means is we need to set natural limits on morality, natural limits on good and evil.

B.U.I.L.D. Resetting Your World View

The Irreni World Scale solution to resetting your world view is eliminate the supernatural from morality and to also embrace relative morality for all the reasons stated below.

The journey of beginning to embrace Irreni World Scale is to reset your world view to relative morality informed by collective natural empathy and not by personal supernatural experience.

As an anti-theist atheist I know what your thinking. You are thinking I'm saying this because I'm not religious. Not at all. I'm saying this because the supernatural has only one known instrument of measurement: personal experience. Whatever you think you know about anything supernatural is personal because that supernatural experience has no natural measurement.

So, since the religious folks are not going to exterminate each other and since measuring supernatural experience is non-transferable between people then our only choice is set natural boundaries on morality, even if supernatural ones exist in your mind.

What is the source of the morality?

Empathy is the source of morality, not religion. In fact, religion gets morality wrong on so many topics then all religion does is muddy the already murky waters of differing empathy capacities between people.

Let us put religion as the source of morality to the test shall we? Let us do so with a couple of images.

Test 1: Enola Gay vs. ISIS

There are two pictures here on top of each other. The first picture is of the pilot of the Enola Gay who dropped an atomic bomb on Japan and thus killing hundreds-of-thousands of civilians. The second picture is of an I.S.I.S. beheading.

Which of these pictures represent faces of evil? In other words, if a scientific experiment were conducted of all Christians about the evil seen in these pictures then the answer should be the same for all Christians if religion is the source of morality . Further the answer of evil should differentiate Christian and non-Christian groups. Look into your heart and ask yourself honestly these questions:

Do Christians have a consistent morality for what is displayed in the above pictures? Do Christians have even the slightest moral consistency above and beyond non-Christians when presented with the above pictures? [EDITOR'S NOTE: No]

Test 2: Tamir Rice

The video is of the police shooting and killing of a twelve-year old Tamir Rice.

If Christianity or any religion is a source of morality then the answers to all the questions below should be crystal morally clear:

  1. Are the police officers evil?
  2. Did the police sin?
  3. Are the police morally wrong?
  4. If the police are not morally wrong, why not?
  5. If the police are morally wrong, why?
Are these police officers evil by religious standards?

The question isn't whether you are clear but on whether the Christian community as a whole is clear on the moral answers to the above questions. If not then this challenges the claim that religion is the source of morality.

Morality fails at large scale

The Enola Gay example was chosen to demonstrate we just cannot empathize scale. Even though we know the pilot of the Enola Gay was directly responsible for killing hundreds-of-thousands of people, many people would have a hard time thinking of the pilot as evil and further thinking of him as more evil than vicious killers doing beheadings.

As Stalin said, kill one person it is murder, kill one million people and it is statistic. Empathy doesn't scale and neither does our morality. Religion makes no difference in that regard.

If religion really was the source of morality,  more importantly if the supernatural were the source of morality, then this morality would insulate people from doing evil. The source of morality would inoculate good people from doing bad things.

Hitler didn't kill millions of people, Christians soldiers did. Stalin didn't kill millions of people, Christian soldiers did. Neither the government of the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany were founded with non-religious citizens. Instead, the majority of their country populations were very religious, just as they were the day before these governments came to power. It takes generations for a culture to change, not overnight. Germany and the Soviet Union may have been anti-religious in their government policy but not in their citizenry culture.

And today? Whenever we think of religion and politics in this country we first think of the religious right, and never of the religious left. Why? Where is the religious left? One would think their source of morality, religion, would compel the religious left to be speak out against the religious right? The religious left in this country is no more standing up to the religious right then the Christian soldiers and citizens stood up to Stalin or Hitler in their respective countries. The Christian left in America represents millions of Americans and yet they are silent with respect to the religious right.

Time-and-time again with endless examples throughout history it can be shown that religion as the source of morality fails utterly and completely. The African American and Native American experiences in this country are just two further examples.

Today there thousands of new moral dilemmas in which followers of Christianity can be found morally ambiguous and confused. Further, religion oft times has no answers at all:
  1. Abortion
  2. Porn
  3. Violence in movies and entertainment.
  4. Sex in movies and entertainment.
  5. Capital punishment.
  6. Guns
  7. War in Iraq and Afghanistan
  8. Immigration
  9. Water boarding
These are not minor issues but issues that define our very national character.  And yet religion does not provide any source of morality within the religious community or America at large. Christians have hundreds and thousands of moral positions on the moral dilemmas listed above, the same as non-Christians. Religion is not the source of morality.

The Case of Christopher Hitchens

Okay, at this point you may be thinking that I'm just espousing anti-theist rhetoric and not building up to any solution. But that's not the case.

I already stated the solution: the supernatural cannot inform relative morality.

I think Christopher Hitchens was a morally good man...when it comes to anti-theism. If you search Youtube for "Christopher Hitchens" then you will find all kinds of videos where Hitchens tears down religion with great success.

And yet I think Christopher Hitchens was a morally evil man...when it comes to war and specifically the war on terrorism. Why? Because Hitchens believed in the supernatural. Yes, that's right, an atheist can believe in the supernatural even if they do not believe in god.

What am I referring too? I'm referring to what Hitchens would see in the picture above of the beheading. When one looks at that photo one can easily feel one is starring into the eyes of evil. Pure evil.

But what does that mean? Evil as some supernatural force doesn't exist in people. Yet Christopher Hitchens claimed he saw evil inside people, or people under the influence of the supernatural.

Once humans demonize other humans and make them into something not-human then we  justify killing our "enemies". And that was Christopher Hitchens: a believer in the supernatural, the supernatural of evil being a force at work in people. He wanted to kill them.

The Case of George Washington

You may not have heard of Christopher Hitchens but you most certainly have heard of George Washington.

George Washington was a morally good man.
George Washington was a morally evil man.

I can hold the above two statements about Washington easily in my mind. But how can I? The two statements are logically contradictory aren't they?

Yes and no. Yes if one believes in the supernatural. It is common to all religions that being possessed by either good or evil are mutually exclusive, you can't be both good and evil.  For the record, this is just one of the myriad of reasons one can generalize about religions, because they all see good and evil as mutually exclusive.

That mutually exclusive state though is only a contradiction when the supernatural is  involved.

I do not believe in the supernatural. I believe good and evil are based intuitively on empathy and can be managed intellectually. Therefore I see Washington had a good morality and good empathy when it came to founding this country. Washington had an evil morality and bad empathy when it came to owning slaves.

B.U.I.L.D. Resetting Your World View

The journey of beginning to embrace Irreni World Scale is to reset your world view to relative morality informed by collective natural empathy and not by personal supernatural experience.

What are these natural limits? Here is the easy part, we just redefine good and evil without any supernatural references. The solution is to reset your world view for good and evil as defined below:

evil: 1. harmful, 2. the state of mind whereby thoughts of harming and killing others are acted upon.

good: 1. helpful, 2. the state of mind whereby actively helping others not only helps them but helps yourself.

Irreni Solutions vs. Tribalism

Hi! Happy Sunday!

Today I want to address the usage within Irreni of the word "tribe" and juxtapose what's meant by tribe and the devastating violence that results from tribalism. Tribalism is widely recognized by anthropologists and those in cognitive science as a major player in why we commit violence and kill each other.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribalism
Tribalism is the state of being organized in, or advocating for, a tribe or tribes. In terms of conformity, tribalism may also refer in popular cultural terms to a way of thinking or behaving in which people are more loyal to their tribe than to their friends, their country, or any other social group.[1]

The Irreni use of the concept of tribe is in many ways vastly different than the tribe of pre-technology such that one might ask why use the word "tribe" at all?

The answer as to why the use of the word tribe has to do with the inherent difference between the pace of technological change and the pace of evolutionary change.

"The state of technological advancement today is such that we have guided missiles and misguided men."
- Martin Luther King, Jr.

The pace of evolution cannot keep up with the pace of technological advancement. The Irreni World Scale use of the tribe accounts for this fact. Where necessary we need to acknowledge and engage our evolutionary nature that reaches as far back as  two-hundred thousand years or so when social groups first kicked in.

The primary purpose of a tribe within Irreni is to manage fellowship...and by extension culture.

To better understand why we still need some concept of tribe then it is worth remembering that our brains distinguish from the rest of the animal kingdom in three important general areas: language, social groups and tool making.

Given we are still very much made of the same genetics of some two-hundred thousand years ago then we need to manage genetics made obsolete by technological advancement with regards to language, social groups and tool making.

Languages and tool making in human nature today seem to adjust easily to modernity. We are not stunted because of some genetic limits with our  speaking ability, for example. We add approximately sixty-thousand new words to the English language each year, most of them technical. Language scales with technology. Reading and writing is a problem for large populations but our tools are compensating and improving every day so as to overcome our genetic language limitations. The usage of word "tools" is synonymous with "technology".

Our ability to make tools is the reason for our genetic  imbalances today. There seems to be no slowing down as to our learning and building. When you think about technology our tool making ability appears to have no limits whereas language capability easily has limits. How many languages do you speak? However, computers are providing translations and technology managers are language limitations.  Tools to the rescue! And how about for brain's ability to manage social groups?

Of the three areas that distinguish our brain from other animals it is our brains capacity for social groups that has suffered the most as a result of the pace of technological advancement.  Many people today feel disconnected, disaffected and out-of-touch all the while being aware of billions of people that live on this earth. We potentially have billions of people to choose from but we feel left out, why? Because social groups imply dependency on each other. The concept of the job means our dependencies on each other today have been dispersed diffusely such that perhaps upwards of as many as million people can contribute to something as simple as the peanut butter in our kitchen cabinet. How can we humans feel connected, feel our worth, understand our identity in that diffuse dispersal of dependency? Our genetics are not up to the task for so many people today. So we need to bring our need for dependency on each other back to ground level, a local tribe.

Irreni's design of the tribe is intended to re-engage our social group brain by encouraging a small group of people to directly care for each other. Our non-tribe contributions will be the same as today, disconnected from our brain's ability to comprehend the helping and depending.

However, Irreni's design of the tribe mitigates violence of tribalism by defining a tribe to be a maximum of thirty people. To cooperate beyond thirty people then tribes need to cooperate with each other.  Tribalism is mitigated simply as a matter of scale. Tribalism is also mitigated by the character of the tribe to be a mix of human nature traits and not some ideology albeit religion, nation or politics, left or right.

Irreni requires we all belong to a tribe of thirty of some human nature mix of people. The intent here is that within that your tribe group things you do matter to you the way your brain operates. The tribe dependency daily actions provide meaningful direct-feedback fellowship. Even if you cannot find work outside the tribe there should always be work supporting the tribe. Especially because Irreni calls for each and every tribe to take care of all the people institutionalized today in care facilities,  mental institutions and prisons. In your face baby. In sight, in mind. If we all are taking care of the elderly, the mentally unstable, the orphans, the foster kids and so on then we'll have direct motivation to solve the problems these people have that make them so dependent. Irreni tribes then are designed to provide visceral fellowship and be free from ideology due to a mix based on human nature differences and not ideology ethnocentrism.

Irreni's design calling for tribes reflects our human nature that is still languishing thousands of years in the past because genetic evolution changes so slowly  relative to technology changes that can happen overnight.  Irreni's design is intended to eliminate tribalism today by keeping tribe membership to thirty people and by mixing tribe membership for differences of human nature and not ideology. Further Irreni also encourages changing tribes, or finding your tribe. A healthy competition should exist amongst tribes to keep or recruit depending on what's needed by the tribe and the freedom to move about by all tribe members. This goes for the people who need us to care for them. These folks can change tribes as well.

Just as a reminder, Irreni is science driven. All claims made in the above paragraphs need to be vetted with experiments. The claims need to have experiments performed and the results used to adjust the design.

Irreni Solution: Average Intelligence Empoyment

Hi! Happy Saturday!

Yesterday I posted an observation that there are pressures on employment of average intelligence: automation and computer intelligence. Average intelligence is about the capability of the brain, not high school education. To whit, education level will be irrelevant if one has average intelligence because for most average intelligent tasks computers will be able to perform such tasks and much cheaper.

Today I'm going to write about the Irreni World Scale solution to the average intelligence employment dilemma.

Before we begin let me remind the dear reader that Irreni has at it's core two fundamental principles:

  1. Innovation replaces revolution. Irreni advocates continuous improvement by a million upgrades over one-hundred years and not revolution of government overthrow or wholesale disruption.
  2. Experimentation where science is key to innovation. Innovation starts small and only scales to large numbers after scientifically proven success of claims. Repeatable processes.
Average intelligence is being made obsolete and unemployable by systems today because the focus is on efficiency, not humanity. It is an easy sell to blame this on capitalism, but that is too simplistic. Any human system is subject to human nature. Greed is in our human nature. No system to date has been able to adequately deal with greed and its sister, corruption. That goes for corrupt communism, socialism or capitalism.

Capitalists get all sanctimonious and point to a human nature flaw with socialism and communism: lack of incentive and competition. Humans need incentive and competition lacking in communism and capitalism.

However, capitalists are in complete and total denial that all capitalists systems fall victim to human nature: greed. Efficiency concentrates profit, concentrates recipients and this concentration promotes greed and corruption by narrowing the recipients of profits via efficiency. The list of capitalism traits that are brought about by greed is endless: monopolies, price fixing, collusion and war to name a few. Corruption is the queen of greed and the bane of capitalism. Capitalists are blind to greed because most promoters of capitalists are greedy themselves. A telling moment of greed just recently was when Alan Greenspan, the Fed Chair, exclaimed surprise on behalf of bankers and that he expected bankers to be responsible and self-regulating, not irresponsible and greedy.

Our evolution of social groups then needs to improve on the failures of today's systems, especially the fundamental flaws of corruption brought on by greed.

Irreni World Scale's solution is to change the focus from individual to groups, from CEOs to tribes.

CEOs today tie their personal individual wealth to the stock or performance of the company. CEOs position the company as their own personal wealth maker and not as a group or public benefactor. The needs of the one outweigh the needs of the many.

What we need is a new system where the needs of the many outweigh then needs of the few, or the one. This will mitigate the concentration of wealth and power that fosters greed and corruption of capitalism today.

Irreni World Scale promotes a new system based upon a unit of tribe. The unit of hire is a tribe and the unit of living is a tribe.

Imagine a world where corporations, countries, states and cities as social groups no longer exist. Instead what we have are social groups based on a unit of tribe. Groups of people scale in size not by adding individuals to corporations or countries, but by tribes-of-tribes associating.

Imagine all single family units demolished and replaced by highly reconfigurable community units geared towards constant to membership changing.

Why Tribes?

What is the meaning of life? Fellowship. Connecting with each other across some personal spectrum physically, emotionally and intellectually is why we live. That has always been an obvious easy answer to the question of the meaning of life; only our egos insist on an unanswerable answer or want fellowship with the supernatural bigger than ourselves.

We need to connect with each other. Work is meaningful because work connects us to each other. We feel we are connecting and contributing to the human experience.  We feel our worth.

Family is fundamental to humanity because family is our first connection when we come into this world as children. People who hate their job oft times site the family connection as enough and exclusive reason for living.

However, families break down anywhere education and technology thrive. Mostly because we are captive in families, but education coupled with technology frees us the captivity. Families as voluntary tribes break down.

Irreni World Scale calls for experimenting with tribes with some of the following ideas.

Tribal Balance

Prisons, mental institutions and elder care institutions all go away as criminals, limited mental people and the elderly are mixed into tribes. Every tribe will be addressed by balance. Even the most gifted among us is required to connect directly in their tribe to those less fortunate.

How tribes are balanced with a formula of productivity and dependence needs to be worked out. The formula should be a scientific one where dependency is distributed evenly. It is important that everyone connect and have fellowship with those less fortunate, including criminals. We cannot build a better world without thinking day-to-day of those who need care and people for whom this system doesn't work. These people need to be in our face if we are going to solve these problems.

Corporations go way as tribes-of-tribes work in tandem for larger projects. Tribes are the unit of hire factoring in overall compensation for groups with balanced dependencies.  The concept of "employee" goes away as all tribes are balanced to distribute the care for those dependent amongst everyone.

Life's Meaning

Find your tribe!

Conspiracy theories always fall apart in the face of life's meaning. President Obama lives for the same things we all live for; to spend time with his family and enjoy himself. President Obama is not delighting in conspiracies of bringing down the American government or undermining the right.

People just want to live their lives. And that applies to CEOs and world leaders. Girls just want to have fun. Everyone wants to "get off work" and enjoy a movie, sports and fine food. People want to enjoy life and people with power over-indulge, not create conspiracies.

Tribes increase the meaning of life over what we experience today. Today we feel disconnected from family, friends and humanity because our contributions to all of these have been marginalized.

A tribe of thirty people is designed to give us a pool large enough to find a few people for us to connect too directly but not so large our contributions to the tribe seem insignificant.

Also, given a tribe of 30 has 10-20% dependents then there is a large enough pool to spread the care giving around, as well as any expertise required.

Tribes membership is voluntary. Tribe membership is not conscripted but competitive. As long as tribes meet their dependency balance then tribes are free to advertise for new or different members. Unlike a family that you cannot chose, you chose your tribe. Any time membership change a new balance will need to be calculated but otherwise people are free to move about.

Finally, tribe size of 30 is large enough that attrition may be devastating but not debilitating. However, this number of 30 needs to be vetted with social experiments just like any other aspect of Irreni systems going forward. Science for the win!

Find your tribe!

Average Intelligence Employment

We don't grow, cook and serve our own food. We don't make our own clothes. We don't even wash our clothes. Our jobs are so distant from any end contribution to other people our feeling of worth in work gets lost.

Today's work system is frustrating because we need fellowship, we need to connect to enlarge life's meaning. But this cannot be contrived. I worked in a manufacturing facility for a few years where handicapped people were given makeshift jobs and a wage. That's not going to do.

Irreni World Scale calls for a new focus for capitalism: tribe-reliance. Today capitalism focuses on profits for investors. Tomorrow's capitalism focuses on technology and endeavors for tribes.

No more mass production for consumption. Instead the new capitalism focus is limited production for tribe self-reliance. In other words, we re-focus the purpose of automation to allow tribes to be self-reliant and not to lower costs for everyone in the world.

Irreni World Scale is setting the bar of life to be self-reliance. We make our own food, clothing and shelter. However, we do so with state of the art 3D printers for food, clothing and shelter.

Tribe-reliance will put the focus of human fellowship and connectivity back where we can feel it: locally. We all use state-of-the-art technology to build an iPhone.

Tribe-reliance is the future when you think about climate change, space exploration and the meaning of human life. Single tribe reliance will have very limited capability considering how many people it takes to build an iPhone today. But, as we move further along the robotic, artificial intelligence improvement time-line we focus not on mass production putting average intelligence at risk of being meaningless, but rather on tribal-reliance.

Avoiding Insular Dysfunction

Tribes will increase meaning in life by promoting fellowship within a tribe. However, human nature and history show that the dangers of the negative aspects of tribes are every bit as catastrophic as greed and corruption are today.

To mitigate this risk Irreni World Scale requires that every single person have a Device of Life (DOL). The DOL connects everyone to everyone else. Further, the Data Center on the Moon contains our collective knowledge of all humanity and is available to everyone via the DOL.

The Internet and constant use of it for social networking as we do today with people anywhere in the world will offset the negative tendencies of human nature...of violence and homogenuity associated historically with tribal warfare.

The average brain is unemployable.

Hi! Happy Friday!

The average brain is unemployable.

Yesterday I blogged about a radio podcast where a conservative pundit promoted going back to a nuclear family model of mom, dad, the kids and a high school diplomas. I was beside myself, wearing a red dress :-), that someone could say such things seriously.

The average brain is unemployable. That's really all I wanted to say in this blog post. Well, that and we need to face this fact head on.

I read an article on the web the other day which asked the question: when will computers be smarter than people?

I would rephrase that question to when will computers be effective enough to replace people at almost any task?

Prior to 1900 some 90% of Americans were involved in agriculture. Today just 2%.  Why is easy enough to understand: food prior to 1900 had to be grown in your back yard without the technology of the plane, train and automobile. And refrigeration.

Think about how many bank tellers have been put out of a job by the ubiquitous ATM?

The average human brain is unemployable because machines can do most of the work the average human brain is capable of. Most industries are going to come to look like banking and agriculture, a handful of people can service the entire world.

So now what?

Prior to 1980 computer time was far more expensive than human time. From a business stand-point then it made sense to employee people over more expensive  computers. The implication here is that humans will still be employable in large numbers for average intelligence but only for wages that compete with machines. Supply and demand dictates that the market for average intelligence humans will be far greater than the supply. Therefore there will be two factors driving down wages: competition with machines and an over-abundance of average intelligence workers.

We are in a wage race to the bottom.

What are we going to do it about?

Well, one reality was expressed by the movie, "The Matrix". Scientists will come up with far more valuable uses for your brain then you can express yourself. People will be offered "jobs" to be nothing more than computer CPUs, with consciousness. Conscious computer processes. The movie "The Matrix" was a warning: if we start using human brains to augment machine thinking to improve computing then computers may take over.

Are we there yet? Not with humans CPUs, but humans are competing for jobs with machines making the average human intelligence unemployable.

The world has passed by the lady who indicated that a high-school diploma means a good paying job. Those days are long gone because the new job dilemma is that irrespective of education the average human brain is unemployable. Oh sure, there will be a few jobs but the competition will be so fierce that the wages will be nothing.

You have to ask yourself one question: are the people claiming new job markets will always be available for everyone correct in their world view or is automation making the average human intelligence obsolete the correct world view?

We have started 3D printing food. We can 3D print buildings. If computers and machines can take care of all our food and shelter needs cheaply and efficiently, what then?

We need to start facing the new realities of the 21st century. Going back to mom, dad and the kids with high school educations are days long behind us.

We need to redesign life for the 21st century. Demand Irreni World Scale!

Deconstructing the Pope

Hi! Happy Wednesday!

The Pope is visiting America this week and much is being made about it in the media.

I thought this would make an excellent teaching moment about deconstructing the Pope. Not me. I'm not deconstructing the Pope. I'm deconstructing the people who are deconstructing the Pope.

There are two reasons I'm not deconstructing the Pope:
  1. Anti-atheist banality. An anti-theist like myself picking on the Pope? Like that hasn't been done a million times.
  2. Solutions. Irreni World Scale is about solutions, not punditry.
What solution? you ask? This is a perfect teaching moment about thinking in world scale. The Pope is discussing global topics such as climate change and capitalism.

So let's dig in, shall we?

Today I'm deconstructing a WCGO Chicago radio podcast. The program is called "Coffee and Markets" and is a prime-time morning-drive talk show. Further, the hosts and the guests are decidedly conservative. I can't really say I have any agenda with conservative vs. liberal on this topic of speaking in scale. Liberals and conservatives alike happen to both be egregiously bad talking about scale. The only reason I'm picking on this show is it happens to be the one I was listening too.

You can listen to the show here:
http://www.redstate.com/2015/09/22/popes-view-capitalism-overlooks/
Below are just some of the talking points:

Efficiency

The Pope states that capitalism promotes a throw-away society.  The capitalist counter argument is that it is that people are free to do things wasteful. However, markets encourage people to do things efficiently. Capitalists economy are more efficient than socialist economies because  they make more profit by using fewer resources. The efficiencies in capitalist economies are much higher than socialist economies to generate more profits.

That capitalist economies are more efficient in manufacting is irrelevant when it comes to the waste of capitalism.. Planned obsolescence is wasteful.  Cars up until the Japanese started competing with US auto makers were made to fail. An automobile that lasts 100 years means a consumer is not buying an automobile for 100 years. Can't have that. Ideally in capitalism a car should break down every year so you have to buy another car every year. That's how capitalism works. That's wasteful. Where is the capitalism in selling products that are permanent and not consumed? Capitalism promotes consumption because increased sales comes from selling more product. Totally wasteful. The wasteful scale of consumer consumption wasting our resources far outstrips any efficiencies of manufacturing gained by capitalism. The only proof you need is the obesity epidemic in this country. We are eating ourselves to death as consumers buying every increasing amounts of high-fat, high-calorie food.

Capitalism lifts the poor.

The capitalist argument is that the output that comes from capitalists economies enables ordinary and even the poor compared to socialists economies and even  prior to the industrial revolution.

The problem with this argument is treating capitalism as if there are no other forces working in society.

Like say, I don't know, public education. Public education that is government run and owned.

Capitalism lifts the poor is at best a half-truth. That makes this half-lie.

Capitalism as an idea doesn't work in a vacuum. Capitalism cannot take all the credit nor can capitalism take all the blame. Capitalism is just one of many ideas at work in our economy. Talking about capitalism as a factor in isolation is naive at best, dishonest at worst.

I did a study once on a different topic: capital punishment. A simple question was asked: does killing people deter crime? Does the death penalty prevent people from committing crime?

You know what the answer was? We don't know. Why? Because there are too many societal factors at any given time so as to be able to isolate the one variable: capital punishment. The only thing we know for sure is that crime correlates to poverty.

So how is that if we cannot determine if the death penalty works because socially isolating the variable is impossible then there are people who go around giving capitalism credit for everything? It doesn't scale. You cannot isolate capitalism from public education, Democratic governments and social welfare so as to "know" economic success is solely attributable to capitalism. People who do this are either arrogant or dishonest.

Capitalism is only compared to a set of fixed historical systems.

A zero-sum game is a fallacious argument of scale. What is mind-boggling about capitalists arguing ideas of types of government as a zero-sum game is the cognitive dissonance.  In the very same interview noted above the economist argues that people who do not understand wealth typically do so because they treat wealth like a zero-sum game. Yet he treats models of government as a zero-sum game where the only ideas are socialism, communism and capitalism. So here is someone who knows the scale pitfall of a zero-sum game argument and yet makes the same zero-sum argument about ideas for government. The Pope is not limiting himself to just ideas of the past. The Pope even states we need a new path forward. And yet the fellow in the interview puts the Pope in that box historical.  Ideas are not a zero-sum game. Further the definitions of socialism, communism and capitalism have evolved over time and each generation of these ideas needs a fresh set of arguments.

Innovation

Innovation made possible by capitalism has lifted in the poorest of the world.  No one gets small pox today because of capitalism.

Two things about the American economy  I can assure all capitalists will agree on. First, is that America has a terrible track record of building democracies in other countries, a requirement for capitalism. Second, is that American innovation is far superior to anywhere else in the world where capitalism exists.  Japan and Korea do not innovate as well as America. And Canada? And Australia? Do these countries innovate as well as the US? If not then capitalism cannot be the only factor for innovation and perhaps not even the major factor.

Religion

Is capitalism compatible with religion? Capitalism requires a pluralist society that promotes religion by not adhering to a single religion.

This argument undermines itself. Capitalism requires a pluralistic society not the other way around. Secularism should be given  credit for America's economic achievements today, not just capitalism in isolation.

Being poor.

The capitalist argument is there is no institution in history that comes close to capitalism success at inspiring multitudes of strangers from different countries and with different talents to cooperate for the betterment of humanity and the nature environment. Thus lifting all boats worldwide.   People who don't understand the economy assume a zero-sum game when it comes to the poor. Capitalism argument that the people who do not know anything about economics shouldn't make pronouncements about the economy. . You want to be poor in America and not in Ecuador.

http://time.com/3833081/happiest-people-world/
“This report gives evidence on how to achieve societal well-being,” Jeffrey Sachs, the director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University, said in a statement. “It’s not by money alone, but also by fairness, honesty, trust, and good health.”
Otherwise this argument is identical to the argument  above where capitalism lives in a vacuum taking all the credit.

I pointed out above the secularism is a prerequisite for capitalism to flourish.

Most anthropologists will tell you that capitalism is not the fundamental underpinning of our economy and overall way of life, public education is. Capitalism is secondary to public education and public education did not come from capitalism, but religion.

The Protestant movement inadvertently created public education. You need to read the bible to be a protestant. This means all protestants must be taught to read and write. Thus public education was born.

Public education and secularism underpin capitalism and are a foundation that capitalism must be built upon. Public education can be argued is far more fundamental to our economy.

War on Poverty

The conservative view point is we have spent 20 trillion dollars in the war on poverty and haven't moved the needle on poverty. We've created inter-generational poverty. People are better off working. People are too lazy to get a job because the government is giving free handouts over a long haul. Conservative view point is that success and getting out of poverty only requires a high-school diploma, a job, get married and have children.

There are so many problems with this argument it is hard to know where to begin.

  1. Financiers are rigging the game. Everyday people like you and me cannot change financial regulation to get rich the way financiers can. Cheating is resulting in a huge re-distribution of wealth going on in this country where the middle-class is being destroyed.
  2. Automation is eliminating high-school jobs. Menial labor is now the domain of robotics, computers and automation.
  3. Global workforce. The Internet has made global communication and a global workforce the norm. Americans are now competing with low-wage workers all over the world.
  4. Jobs are limitless is a fallacy. This is probably the biggest fallacy every conservative believes. If only people would go out and look for a job there a limitless jobs out there waiting to be filled.
  5. The 1980s called and they want their joke back with respect to mom, dad and the kids. In a single decade the US economy went from a single-parent to a dual-parent income norm required for the middle-class. Unless one is upper-middle class one cannot afford to live in the US in the middle-class with one working parent. Conservatives arguing for re-establishment of a two-parent family are holding Americans hostage to a norm that has only been around since 1980: middle-class requires two incomes.
  6. Middle-class status is superior to happiness overall is a fallacy.  See the Times report: http://time.com/3833081/happiest-people-world/. Dysfunctionally, unhappy, miserable marriages are why people get divorced in the first place. Conservatives want women in particular to go back to being forced into a patriarchy economy.

Thinking in scale.

What's absolutely crucial to deconstructing the arguments in the radio interview and understanding why these arguments are fallacious is having a solid perspective of  scale.

Joan Fedor said it best, "The biggest threat to democracy today is over-simplified solutions to complicated problems."

This is an argument of scale. That things are complicated is a argument of scale. Just giving credit to capitalism or just blaming capitalism in isolation is an over-simplified evaluation by orders of magnitude. This applies to the Pope as well for just blaming capitalism in isolation. These over-simplified evaluations  are the biggest threat to capitalism and democracy today. Therefore it is fair to say that all the arguments deconstructing the Pope in the radio interview noted above are all fallacious for the very same reason, over simplification. Because the arguments are all over-simplified that makes these arguments the worst threat possible to capitalism itself. Demagoguery of ideology is dangerous albeit religion or any other idea.

All the above arguments promoting capitalism discount every other factor in human history that has promoted human betterment, especially public education. We humans inadvertently stumbled upon public education. And yet, Capitalism gets all the credit for America's success today.

The Irreni solution today was a teaching moment to deconstruct in scale. I've made arguments of scale to get you to think in scale. Society is complex. Anyone boiling society down to a trope such as "capitalism" doesn't know what they are talking about. Full stop.

Trump Genesis

Hi! Happy Friday!

The genesis of Trump.

It is no surprise that America wants reality T.V. for politics, at least to the panelists for today's blog post. This blog post is simply a video to watch a prescient panel in a 2008 . It is rather chilling to watch,  especially Hitchen's glass-of-cold-water-in-your-face warning about the totalitarian path that a demagogue like Trump will lead us down.

The video is quite fun and funny...an educational fun if you have 45 minutes to watch. The setting is 2008 after Obama clinched the Democratic nomination. The panels predication by description of what new media means is spot on in predicting a Trump candidacy. Trump may be a first, but I guarantee you what he represents has a new norm written all over it. Below are some quotes:
  • "Youtube video needs to be shocking to get viewed." - Trump is shocking.
  • "Celebrity status gets you far these days." - Trump is his own celebrity.
  • "Presidential candidates should start hanging out with Linsday Lohan just for the media attention." - Trump is hanging out with himself.
Trump is his own celebrity, but there was a rumor floating around in June that Trump would invite celebrity Sarah Palin to be his running mate. At this point I would say Palin's tragic media attention is on par with what Lindsay Lohan was back in 2008. Although Trump would be better off picking Kim Khardashian as his running mate, or at least appointing her as his spokesperson.

R.I.P. Capitalism

Hi! Happy Thursday!

Capitalism is dead. R.I.P. The proof is one word: zero-percent interest.

Ever ask yourself what the Fed will do when the next bubble bursts? They've been printing money, quantitative easing,  and lending at 0% interest going on seven years now.

Think about it.

A child born in 2008 would be 7 years-old. Imagine you are a parent and are about to explain money to your seven-year-old for the first time. What do you say about savings?

A entire new generation is about to be raised where saving money is the wrong thing to do. And yet our entire capitalist banking system was built upon an assumption of a savings economy. That savings economy doesn't exist any more and never will again. So neither does capitalism. R.I.P.

The Fed made their scheduled announcement today: no raise to the interest rate:

The Federal Reserve announced on Thursday that it is keeping its benchmark interest rate at or near zero, maintaining a policy that is likely to allow the job market to improve further. The Fed’s federal funds rate -- the interest rate the Fed charges for banks to lend to one another overnight -- will remain at target rate of 0.0-0.25 percent, where it has been since December 2008 at the height of the financial crisis. The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), the central bank body charged with adjusting key rates, will have its next chance to adjust the influential interest rate when it meets again on Oct. 27 and 28.

The impact of zero-percent interest rate means businesses cannot have any more advantage then they have today:

  • 100 percent of Americans are incentivised to invest. The zero-percent savings rate means to save money is to lose money with 2% inflation.
  • Businesses are borrowing at the lowest rate possible.  Lending rates won't get any lower or any more favourable to business. That means if the Fed ever raises interest rates ever again then savings interest rates will soon meet inflation and people will feel they can start saving again, pulling millions and billions out of the market. Bubble burst.

The stock market is a bubble of the Fed creation: zero-percent interest rate. The game is rigged. You either invest or lose money at a savings interest rate of zero percent.

Think about this: the Fed rate was 9%. If the Fed had raised the rate just 1/4 of a percent today then financial analysts predicted total ruin. 1/4% vs. 9%. Our economy has changed permanently.  Capitalism is dead because the capitalists no longer have to compete in a savings economy, instead the markets have to be propped up by forcing Americans to invest, permanently.

If the central bank raised the interest rates back to nine-percent and banks started paying savings again at 5% think of the billions and trillions of dollars people would pull out of the stock market. Boom! To whit, the zero-percent interest rate is a new permanent fixture.  The Fed cannot move.

I'm going to make a prediction when the next economic bubble bursts: the Fed will go negative on the interest rates. That's right, negative interest rates where the Fed will be directly subsidizing the markets.

In a previous blog post I wrote:

The global economy of today has undergone a sea change these last couple of decades. Conditions have change so radically and so fast so as make all historical data on economics irrelevant.

A permanent Fed rate of zero-percent should have been a wake up call to people that the game has changed, no looking back. Why are we even having economic conversations based on a past system?  This is not your parent's economy. All the yap by economists today is just BS. A fractional banking system where banks loan out 9/10 of all deposits assumes a savings economy.

What kind of economy do we have then? We need new political and economic words that correspond to new philosophies that reflect of the sea changes of these last decades such as with a permanent 0% interest rate lending economy with no savings. It cannot be called capitalism when you are extorted to invest or lose money.

The Irreni World Solution is innovation and not revolution. Why? Two reasons:

  1. Experiments need to be conducted to validate any new claims made.
  2. The world is too big to revolution. If there is revolution in the US then millions and billions outside of the US will pay the price, including die.

If millions and billions in this world are dependent on the US for life...food, medicine and protection...then what does it mean to be American? Shouldn't these people have a say in their future? in any innovation and revolution we undertake? This suggests even the concept of "country" is obsolete. We are just planet Earth now. We are living in a redefined world pretending it is not with outdated conversations. Soon our collective denial to face our sea change reality is going to inflict a terrible price in human life. Let's not let it get that far.

We need to wake up folks. We need to shake off our inability to admit reality simply because we are afraid to admit the truth. We refuse to admit our situation in part because we feel we have no solution, no options, no nothing. We are staring into the open maw of nothingness of options and are afraid, afraid that if we admit all our notions of capitalism, democracy, republicanism, socialism and communism are outdated then we have nothing to say. What next? And Bernie Sanders can't save you because there is no going back. Bernie has no ideas to innovate. Irreni World Scale does. Irreni World Scale is a system, a platform to innovate solutions to meet today's conditions. We need to innovate, together.

Cheers!
